Nell Brown is Junggayi (cultural custodian) for Bagala clan lands. Her area of responsibility is the lands around Barunga. Her mother, Phyllis Wiynjorroc, was the daughter of Lamjorrotj and his first wife, Laurie. Her father was Billy Dupdup, whose traditional lands are Ngalkbon lands around Mainoru.
Nell Brown has only one son, Michael Farrell. She has two grandchildren from Michael, Lucas and Shirona Farrell. Her niece is Tania Tiati, from Nell’s sister, Belinda Brown. Nell has a lot of adopted grandchildren from Tania Tiati. They are Ngarlita, Teaghan, Joel, Georgina and Siniki. Her other adopted grandchildren are Tryell Fredericks, Ricardo Ranch, Kieran Ranch and Kasiah (Cassie) Ranch. Cassie’s daughter is Sybillina, named after Sybil Ranch, who was the daughter of Lynette Ranch (deceased), Nell’s sister. Nell’s nephews from her brother, Billy Brown (deceased), are Lloyd Brown and Mathew Brown, who has a little daughter called Tina. Her nephews from her other brothers are Stevie Brown and Harold Brown.
